Okay, if you are a major audiophile, you've probably heard some of these albums, or at least heard of them. This list contains albums that the majority of people have never heard, and they are all good, or at least interesting and strange.
1. Premature Ejaculation - Necessary Discomforts
Premature Ejaculation is an experimental noise project by Rozz Williams of Christian Death. The album Necessary Discomforts was released in 1993 and features some very dark and slightly terrifying soundscapes. I used some of the music as soundtracks on student film projects, and was always asked where this music came from. Necessary Discomforts is less noisy, and more ambient, but still resides in the darkness. Premature Ejaculation has approximately twenty releases, but this one is a good place to start.

2. Nitzer Ebb - Basic Pain Procedure
Nitzer Ebb is a familiar EBM/Industrial band. Their album That Total Age put them in the spotlight. Nitzer Ebb was the opening act for Depeche Mode on their Violator tour, so a large swath of people are familiar with the band, or at least their name. However, this album by Nitzer Ebb is much more obscure. Basic Pain Procedure was their first release, but was not picked up by a label. Nitzer Ebb self released this album. If you are a fan of Nitzer Ebb, Industrial Music, or EBM, you should add this one to your collection.

3. Negativland - Escape From Noise
Negativland is an experimental music art-collective that released their first album in 1980. Escape from noise was released in 1987, and is a psychedelic masterpiece. It's almost impossible to listen to this album and NOT end up quoting it. It's a strange trip that is best enjoyed in an altered state. If you are a sober person, don't worry, this album will make you feel like you are having an acid trip. If you've never heard Negativland, I suggest starting here. Escape from noise is a wild ride straight to the insane asylum. Enjoy.

4. Greater Than One - All The Masters Licked Me
Greater Than One is an electronic band founded by a husband and wife duo. All The Masters Licked Me is their second release from 1987, and features a punk, industrial, experimental sound. Greater Than One would later become more electronic focused as they continued to release albums. They eventually became a techno band, although they released their techno tracks under many different names. If you enjoy avant-garde music you will be thrilled with All The Master Licked Me.

5. I Start Counting - Fused
I Start Counting only had two full album releases and several singles. Fused is their second release from 1988 and features an electronic, acieed house sound. Many of the tracks on this album are actually danceable. That's not something I can say for most of the albums I included on this list. I Start Counting was produced by Daniel Miller on Mute records. Miller is the man who owns the Mute Records label that produced Depeche Mode, Erasure, and Yazoo. Although, I Start Counting was edgier and more underground than any of the aforementioned commercial bands. Fused is an enjoyable album, that I'm sure you've never heard.

6. He Said - Take Care
He Said is another band from the Mute label featuring Graham Lewis from the experimental band Wire. Lewis' haunting, deep voice overtop of industrial electronic sounds is a divergent treat for music listeners who tire of hearing overproduced candy pop. Take Care is He Said's second release from 1988, and features tracks that sound like they are meant to be played on a dance floor. Even though they have a good beat, they are enjoyable for those who just like to listen to music, as well. You probably haven't heard He Said, and you are missing out.

7. Duet Emmo - Or So It Seems
Duet Emmo is a project by Daniel Miller, Graham Lewis, and Bruce Gilbert. Obviously, it was also released on Mute records since it features Mute Records owner Daniel Miller. Or So It Seems is the only release by this trio and features droning electronic sounds placed over slow, steady shoe gaze beats. It's very avant-garde and makes quite an impression. I've only met one other person who has ever heard this album. You should join our club and check it out.

8. Paradise 3001 - Sunspots
Paradise 3001 is technically a techno album released in 1994 by Aad de Mooy. I know what you're thinking, but this album does not sound like any other techno you have heard. Sunspots uses mellow, melodic tones layered over tight samples to create an atmospheric soundscape that is enjoyable and emotional. You can definitely dance to this album, but you can also chill and be transported to another planet by just listening to the soundscape that is created on Sunspots. Very few people know about this album, and those who do would probably rather that I kept it a secret. It's a hidden electronic gem.

9. Black Dog - Spanners
The Black Dog is another group that was technically considered techno. However, the 1994 release of Spanners is more of an ambient journey through enticing electronic tones. It does have some beats, mostly break beats but I have always enjoyed this album for straight chilling. In fact, this album was one of the albums that I would listen to as I fell asleep for several years. You don't have to be a raver to enjoy Spanners, you just need to enjoy music.

10. Kraftwelt - Electric Dimension
Kraftwelt released Eletric Dimension in 1996. I found Electric Dimension when I was working at a record store. As a huge Kraftwerk fan, of course I had to purchase this album. I thought it must be a band who was trying to copy or knock off Kraftwerk. Even the cover art looks like it's trying to copy Kraftwerk. However, I found that Electric Dimension was totally different from anything Kraftwerk did. Yes, Kraftwelt is fully electronic, but their sound is extremely unique, and really isn't trying to copy any other band. Electric Dimension was another album that I used to listen to as I fell asleep. Electric Dimension will definitely grow on you. I believe it uses subliminal tones to control the listeners emotions. See the secret government MK Ultra project for more information.
